A brief discussion that a happy new year is up to you and us.
Reminder: a happy new you is the most important determinant of a happy new year. Invest in a new self! And your year and world will change.
A new year is a time of change, transition and transformation. Is it the change and transformation of you/me/us. Changing our relationships changes our world.
There are many concerns about the economy, politics, housing, the environment, wages, etc. The collapse of existence as we know it or the creation of a new existence? What to do, where to start and when? Change you, the view of yourself now. Not your reflection in the mirror, but the internal being of yourself.
Economics is the study of how people exchange time, value, money, etc. Often the focus is on money and how it circulates and functions as a medium of exchange. But money is the medium, not the exchange. And the exchange is based on the “faith” that money is an accepted representative of value. A mere symbol of value but inherently has no or little actual value beyond its utilitarian value. For example, people burn paper for heat, use gold as a boat anchor, or use silver for its conductive properties. Even cryptos only represent increased efficiencies of a digital ledger/blockchain.
What is value? The old paradigm of value = money is collapsing. The pattern of collapse is “breakdown, break open and breakthrough.” What will replace the mechanism of exchange, i.e., relationship; gold, ETF, cryptos, quantum ledgers, etc.?
A while back I posted “Love is the new money, and sharing is the new wealth.” (https://lovechangegrow.com/what-if-love-is-the-new-money/). A brief presentation of my understanding of money and exchange. And made a comparison of money and love. Of course, money and love are two different levels of interaction. But which is more valued?
In psychology, one’s relationship with oneself is the basis for all other relationships. How do we view ourselves? Who are we? Which is an underlying theme of this blog.
A career as a crisis mental health investigator, evaluator, and consultant. The first was to gather a sense of the client and how they perceived themselves. This offered a quick assess into their interpretation or perspective of “what was happening?” It gave me a look into their “situational analysis,” i.e., their evaluation and point of view. This often involved some disruption or misinterpretation of what was happening.
The second question is what do you want to do about it? This is simply identifying the problem or issue. And inviting the client to take part in finding a solution.
What is the problem or situation? Is our economy changing? The old methods of exchange seem to be failing and hurting society and the planet. Call it what you want — a collapse or a long overdue need for change. It doesn’t matter. What matters is the response. Specifically, what are you going to do now? Some will freeze not knowing what to do. Others will run away and hide. Others will fight. And few will observe the situation, grasp the dynamics and respond relative to their personal situation. No matter if it’s about money, trade, or affection; a person needs to consider the other side of the exchange, the context and their relationship.
Love and money; both have value, but what are their inherent values? Are there differences in their utility? You can exchange and share both, but it depends on the people involved and their intent. If sharing is the new wealth, love becomes the recognized and acknowledged value, intent and inspiration. Sharing is an act of exchange. Is the exchange an elevation, expansion, and transformation via the act of exchange? And does it become an expression of love? I.e. does love embody the exchange? Where all parties are sovereign and benefit to their satisfaction?
Our existence, economy and environment are manifestations or reflections of who we are and of our intent. What is your intent — to uplift and expand, or of fear, constraint and control?
There are three sides of a coin and likewise in love. The intentional side of sharing or giving. The receiving side often involves the use and/or creating. And the third side is that of the exchange, sharing or flowing relative to time, space and value. Movement or flow in economic terms is the notion of velocity.
Velocity in economics is a partial measure of the vitality of an economy. Velocity is simply the number of exchanges in a period. This implies that more trading leads to a higher overall value, assuming the value of each item stays the same.
Transformation is merely separating the wheat from the chaff. It is a distillation process. A transition phase of using what we have… to become some thing more. Like the “Rs.” Reduce, reuse, recycle, and reinvent our relationships with our lives. The who, what, when, where, why and how we are.
The turning point… the pivot
Recognizing that we are already divine. Having the experience of emerging, discovering and being divine. All that is required is to be receptive and to remember we are divine beings. The only thing to do is to be. To be kind, compassionate, joyful and graceful. Flowing ourselves, with all our relations. And in an infinity of dimensions.
Of course, some will view this as a disruption to the traditional paradigm of human interaction via money and trinkets. And others will view this as a welcome transformative change.
Sharing is wealth. It recognizes that we are divine, that we are in the garden, and that we have never left it. It is simply that the veil of separation is thinning or lifting. When we recognize we are a diversity of divinity… which also connects us through our divinity. We exist in an abundant garden.
Money, i.e., the belief (faith and confidence), is that money represents value but does not have inherent value. But people believe they can exchange it for valuable things. But all this depends on the standard of reference. Gold and silver have been the historical references. Perhaps we are wandering into new “standards of reference.” Perhaps we recognize we are the divine standard through our existence of being divine.
In everyday life, we simply forget to recognize that we share in the divinity of who we are, our kindness, ideas, talent, skills, resources, etc. The love side of exchange is intent, a blessing as an opportunity. An opportunity to exchange, to share, to be and to be blessed in a relationship; a communion within us, with others and with all.
And the other side of sharing is to be gracious; mindfully be open in receiving, and to be transformed by the exchange and relationship. This is the dynamic flow and expansion of being, i.e., in love.
The velocity of love. What happens when there is an increase in the velocity of love? Economics notes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velocity_of_money) that money exchanged increases the overall value in an economy. The belief that love is valuable. And increasing the sharing, or velocity, creates more wealth than if people hoarded it. Is sharing the new wealth… creating value in the exchange? What would happen if love was the new money and sharing was the new wealth? Whereas love is the new money and sharing is the new wealth. It is the inherent belief that love is valuable. And as people share love, it increases.
Can love transform our existence on this planet? Perhaps we change in the blink of an I.
Blessings to the new you!
