A Discussion Of The Path To Being

The Student, The Teacher, And The Lesson

We’ve all heard when the student is ready, the teacher appears. Which is true and simply manifestation. The issue is, is what we manifest. Sometimes it’s an easy lesson and other times it’s a “what the hell!” With hard lessons, a student often feels like something is happening “to” him or her. If they feel it is happening to them, the lesson whizzes right past them. This is because they get tangled in the feelings of their response. Their response can range from outrage, so what, or bliss? This is because they focus on their experience (emotions, thoughts and behaviors) and completely missing the lesson. Perhaps they were only ready for an introduction, but not yet the full lesson.

Yet the relationship of the teacher to student is “for” the student to learn. A seed (lesson) planted, will germinate, grow and bear fruit. Seeds are like little time capsule that are later opened and reveal its gifts. The difficulty is to accept the position as a student and that our creation (lesson) is for us.

Progression

The progression is from desire to introduction or initiation. When a person notes they are a student, is when the opening for the beginning of learning. And all bets are off concerning their progression. There are many stories that a student begs and sits at a master’s feet. Perhaps after years, the master finally acknowledges them and invites them into their hut (inner sanctum). Then, only to be treated as a slave laboring. The student feeling “what the hell?” I did not sign up for this crap… I aspire to be a master.

Again, the student does not notice laboring is the preparation. It is like tilling or turning over the soil/soul. Remember the story of pouring new wine into old wine bags? If one can only see or desire. They are not ready or open for the work. The new wine will spoil. They remain closed. At some point, the student becomes frustrated, confused, disoriented and gives up. This is the breakdown phase, the turning of the soil. https://lovechangegrow.com/the-hell-of-breakdown-breaking-open-and-breakthrough/

Next is the break open phase. The break open phase is the surrendering. The overturned soil/soul is now ready and prepared to receive. Receive what? What the student desires. This can be a long and drawn-out process. Because now the student can see an infinite number of possibilities. An exploration of desires, skills, resources and experiences. Matching the past with the future. It is a matter of choosing wisely, the holy grail question. But the master (gate keeper) is screaming you idiot, why did I waste my time? Hey, I’m getting old here, I’m tired and have better things to do than wait for your sorry ass… I might die here. “Choose you must” (Yoda). And if the student cannot recognize what is required, it becomes a shitshow and their progression stops. There are no other options. The requirement is that the student calms themselves, enters their inner sanctum and chooses. Chooses what? Well, that is up to the student… as it has always been.

At the point the student chooses, their path is cast. And the genuine work begins. This is the breakthrough phase of becoming a master. A gate keeper is no longer needed. The lesson, a seed or path is selected. A garden appears, one enters, and plants the seed. The gardener again becomes the student of life’s garden. Attention and persistence of the gardener determines the quality of the fruit and reflects what they have learned.

Life is the teacher, lesson and the fruit. There is no distinction between them. When a student realizes there is no distinction, they stop running all over hell, asking, “are you my teacher?” And this is where the wonderful and difficult path of learning begins. It is the arduous path of being an apprentice, i.e., to become a master of life. It is learning to be the master of yourself. A hellish endeavor, perhaps taking an infinity of lifetimes.

Lessons

Lessons can be long or quick, soft or hard, fast or slow; it doesn’t matter. What matters is the student. Despite the difficulty of lessons, it’s about the student. Specifically, the student determines learning, the lessons, the progression and the fruits.

In the end, the student and teacher are the same. And the lessons and the teachings are the same. The difference is, is one’s free will to choose to recognize the teacher, the lessons and the path to become the master of themselves.

Karma and Dharma

Karma is the drama that brings you to Dharma. Karma is when things are happening “to” you. Dharma is when one recognizes things are happening “for” you. And you act relishing the opportunity. Dharma is more than the practice of life. It is life that is life unfolding or emerging for you. It is the path, the garden, or life that unfolds for you. You are the creator, master and enjoy of the fruits of the garden. A collapse into being. Therefore, being, there you are, the alpha and omega.

The Break Open

We are entering a space and time, or a dimension of “breaking open”. Some folks are noting the thinning of the veil, the second coming, the wobble of the Yuga cycle allowing more direct energy from the central sun. The various cultural perspectives and explanations do not matter. What matters is that we take the opportunity (or not). Some will not recognize and thus not take the opportunity. It is their sovereign decision. The point it is your decision; for and about you.

This breaking open is the recognition or revelation that there is an infinite multitude of experiences. What opens is the heavens and hells of the psychic, subtle, and casual realms. The heaven of it is the opportunities. And the hell of it is the opportunities. The problem is “what to do?” Wander about chasing the next rainbow and getting lost is the hell of it.

The trick is to choose you and your experience; and not to follow someone else’s. Don’t chase rainbows and find unicorn shit. The path is to go within; find and be you. It is the opportunity for you to imagine your light… step into your light, become your light, be your light and merely shine. Forget about the above noted ramblings of a madman about the “progression.” You have been a student and a teacher. Now is the time and space to create, to be your creator and to create. A once in a lifetime opportunity… as it always has been. The masters and avatars have showed it is possible and have shown the way. They have left breadcrumbs along the path and planted seeds in the garden. But is you, I, and us that must do, become and be.

The Ancients

The ancient calendars and predictions only could note a time of great upheaval or revelation. But could not note what might be beyond that time. Have we entered the time or garden? What we have entered. Whether one considers this a blessing or a curse is up to them. This is an opportunity. It is an opportunity where a person is no longer required to spend lifetimes for the opportunity to create. It is the opportunity to choose. To choose, in the blink of an eye to be a master or continue to be a slave to their karma (baggage)? Still, sometimes an old kick in the ass helps us to wake up to this opportunity. It is one’s choice to determine if it is an ass whooping, a lesson or not. But the big whoop is here. Only 54 years later that captured the decade; “Woodstock,” (Joni Mitchell, 1970). A future fractal or echo of déjà vu to our rodeo time.

Side Note: Meditation is a state and process of awareness… awareness of the internal and external and the realization of both. There are tons of practices or techniques that are merely suggestions to get you there. Buddhism is more of a head or psychological, logical approach. The heart is more feeling and service oriented to the other as in Christian and Muslim traditions. And the Aboriginal tradition is of the intuitive, gut, or knowing experience of being open.

In the beginning, there is some kind of preparation, initiation, teaching, practice, and attainment. Often involve some type of breathing, imaginal techniques, attentional focus, etc. are just forms of approach. After you gain some practice and experience, you will be able to just drop in to awareness without all the practices you had done to get there. In my experience, awareness of breath is an excellent approach, since we have to breathe, anyway. Vipassana is an efficient vehicle which has its main parts of attentional focus, non-attachment and the development equanimity, insight and awareness, and the continued daily chores of chop wood carry water.

Despite whether your approach is of the head, heart, or gut. Each tradition has the progression of see one, do one, teach one and be one.

The Progression of the Student

The progression: when the student is ready; the teacher appears. And when the student is really ready, the teacher disappears. When the student is really, really, ready. The teacher appears. And when the teacher is ready, the student appears. The point is whatever appears is the teacher and the student is ready. It is not a question of if you are ready? It is a matter of do or do not… but choose you must.

Blessings,

Tim

Addendum:

My posts are merely offering thoughts and ideas which are more from a psych-metaphysical approach to manage what you might be experiencing. Below are links to several others’ thoughts that I’ve found to be interesting and are perhaps of value. As always, you are sovereign beings. And you discern the relevance and value to your situation.
