What is the Fourth Turning?

The Fourth Turning

The past few weeks I’ve been on a social media detox. Making the choice of not turning on my Facebook, social media, news, etc. Realizing after hours of scrolling interesting topics, OMG, I got to do something else. This detox has been a great opportunity to be with myself. Tuning into just being (tuning in and dropping out). I discovered projects I have wanted to do for a few years; it was amazingly easy. Basically, creating the opportunity of time, energy and focus to do things I had been putting off for years.

The fall of empires describes the fourth turning in history. It is the point where the prevailing paradigm and culture no longer works and crumbles. If crisis is opportunity, what opportunities are awaiting to be discovered and will emerge?

Yet the fourth turning is also turning from being externally oriented, looking at worldly events and happenings. And instead turning one’s focus on your internal being in the world. Turning towards an internal focus really opens the experience that there is an infinite internal world of potential being. Internal focus is about potential versus the external “display” or manifestation. The difference is a matter of consciousness, i.e., choosing (focus and attention), frequency (energy vibration at a rate of being imaginal, feeling, physical, etc.), and time. The time and space is the cyclical flow from potential to being to returning. It really brought home the metaphysical reciprocal binding or reflection of “as above, so below.” If you want to change the world, it is much easier to change yourself. That change happens internally and externally because of changing one’s perspective and view of the world, the past and the future changes you.

Are we in a super cycle? Finding ourselves in a winter’s turning? Winter is the opportunity for internal examination and evaluation of the gardener. Basically, asking who am I? What is my passion, i.e., what is my meaning and purpose? And what am I going to do about it?

If we are in a grand (super cycle) fourth turning? The point, we are now at the opportunity to go inside. An opportunity to discover, emerge and be our divinity. And in this discovery… and insight. We change the world. At least our perspective of the external world. This change of perspective offers direction on how to be in the world and interact with the external.

My social media break revealed the infinite potential within, far exceeding the vastness of the outside world. It is about being in the world, but not of the world. We are each sovereign beings because of our individual thoughts, feelings, and actions. Furthermore, we are the expression, discovery of, and the being (beings) of divinity. Imagine that! Imagine what we can do together in this world on this planet.

Blessings,

Tim
